Baby Room Basics

Sustainable Crib, Changing Table, Dresser – Look for natural woods

Decorating ABC’s

Artwork – Adding art to the walls will add both personality and personalization. Frame artwork from an older sibling, create a collage of photographs, paint a mural
Bedding – Don’t be shy. Mix & match your color, patterns & textures.
Color – The easiest way to transform your room is with color. Select 2-3 light to medium colors that are not too cutesy & will look great for years to come. Test paint colors on the wall so you can see how they will look at different times of day.
For boys, consider denim friendly colors like red & blues, green & tan, blue & chocolate brown. For the Girls, Add fresh pops of color like pink & green, lavender & cream or black & white for a bit of “ooh la la” that will stimulate imagination too.

Green & Clean:

Fresh Air – One of the most important things you can do for your little one is to provide & maintain clean air. Avoid formaldehydes and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that are emitted into the air by toxic paint, mattresses, fabrics etc. and can cause irritation, asthma, allergies etc. Open the windows often.
Lighting – Replace bulbs with compact fluorescent light bulbs for energy efficiency. They use up to 75% less energy than regular bulbs and last up to 10x longer.
Paint – Buy low to zero VOC paints. You may not smell a fresh coat of paint within a few days but the toxins remain in the room for years. Our Fave: MythicPaint.com
